Electric cars:
Hyundai plans to begin production of hybrid electric cars in 2009. Avanti will be the first car to be produced.
Since 2004, Hyundai has supplied about 3,000 hybrid version of the small car Getz and Accent to the government as part of the testing program. Automaker cites a lack of local tax advantages for the purchase of hybrids as a barrier to the development of its hybrid vehicles. But Hyundai expects to change the tax situation in 2009.
The new hybrid electric Sonata debuted at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2008. Hyundai expects to be free in the US market in 2010, it features a lithium-ion battery technology
